Henggang Eyewear Cluster

Since 2000, Shenzhen-made eyewear has sold to more than 130 countries and regions and accounts for 50% of the global mid-to-high-end market by sales, making Shenzhen the largest production base for internationally known eyewear brands. 90% of China's high-end eyewear designers are concentrated in Longgang District, which has more than 40 professional design studios; design-led output runs to about 5 million pairs a year worth about RMB 550 million. One district manufacturer, Yashi Optical Technology (Shenzhen), produced 8.96 million pairs in 2023 with main business revenue above RMB 770 million (Longgang District Government, reprinting Economic Daily, 25 April 2024).
