Henggang Eyewear Cluster

Henggang's eyewear trade is a manufacturing-oriented cluster, not a single mall: frame, lens and accessory producers and trading companies are spread across industrial parks along the Henggang-Yuanshan section of Longgang Avenue in Longgang District, where Hong Kong investors opened Shenzhen's first eyewear factory in 1983. Buyers typically visit factory showrooms and small trading buildings rather than one consolidated market hall, so appointments and a car between stops matter more than walk-in browsing.

What buyers should know

This is where production happens: frames lead the cluster, supported by acetate materials, parts and automated equipment, so it suits OEM and factory-direct sourcing more than off-the-shelf stock buying.

With 90% of China's high-end eyewear designers based in Longgang (2024), the cluster is a strong option for custom frames and design-led OEM work, not just volume orders.

Buyer caution: the cluster's peak was the mid-2000s and the industry has contracted since. This background could not be sourced to an official page, so verify that specific factories are still trading before travelling.

Stops are spread across Henggang and Yuanshan subdistricts along Longgang Avenue, so group visits by subdistrict and allow travel time rather than expecting a single walkable mall.

Scope
Henggang's eyewear trade is a manufacturing-oriented cluster, not a single mall: frame, lens and accessory producers and trading companies are spread across industrial parks along the Henggang-Yuanshan section of Longgang Avenue in Longgang District, where Hong Kong investors opened Shenzhen's first eyewear factory in 1983. Scale
Economic Daily, reprinted on the Longgang District government website (April 2024), reports that since 2000 Shenzhen eyewear has sold to more than 130 countries and territories and taken about 50% of global mid-to-high-end market sales. 90% of China's high-end eyewear designers are concentrated in Longgang, with over 200 design professionals and more than 40 design studios. One local manufacturer produced 8.96 million pairs in 2023 with revenue above RMB 770 million.
Official status
The Longgang District government features the cluster on its official website (2024, reprinting Economic Daily) as a priority for eyewear-industry upgrading.
